Howard Kurtz and the "tea party" coverage

Blogs of the left and right are in a lather or a twist, respectively, over Howard Kurtz, the Washington Post's media critic, supposedly expressing shock over Fox News' coverage of the "tea party" movement. I was surprised by this, because this afternoon while driving home from the airport I heard an interview of Kurtz on NPR (audio here). I thought he was very reasonable. Yes, he criticized Fox for the aggressiveness of its coverage, but he also called out all the other networks and the major newspapers for essentially burying the story until it became unburyable. The best part comes near the end, when Kurtz compares the non-Fox media's inattention to the tea party movement to the lavish coverage of Cindy Sheehan's ridiculous protests in Crawford.

Good point.
