A note on the advertising
At the suggestion of the TH Daughter, who has, I think, a great future as an entrepreneur, I finally added a single bar of Google advertising to the top of the page. Based on early returns it is not going to release me from toil or even fund my Starbucks requirements, but the statistical package associated with it is pretty interesting. Also, I am curious what Google advertises here. I think it would be interesting if you would describe the ads you see in the comments, which seem to vary based on your location and other "habits." What are you looking at right now? Of course, if it piques your interest, by all means click through!
Also, I've updated this blog's policies and disclaimers as per Google's requirements. They are, as always, available through the link at the top of the sidebar.

Saw the Crank ad earlier, and now there's one for Forex. I've been reading some on some financial sites.
Before I clicked thru, I got an ACLU.org thing for the torture memos and one for insurance (AARP I think) and something for "Hawk machines", about which I have no clue. Wondering if there's any link to dialing in from a college town?

The thing to keep in mind about the google ads is that even if they don't seem at all directed to you, you really cannot conclude that because google knows more about you than you do.
It seems in my case I'm a sadist with a fascination for torture who probably got that way because my face is prematurely and grotesquely wrinkled, so much so that all my feelings of rage at my lot in life come out when I'm behind the wheel which is why I have such a hard time finding car insurance.
I've decided I do not need counseling any more now that I can get so much insightful feedback right here at the TH blogspot. Thanks TH.

@ Mr. Ed: ROFL. You're killing me man. Funny. @TH Hmmm... it just switched. I am now looking at Hawk Eye VFT Drivers/ Iowa Hawkeyes Giftshop/Earn $943 a day online/ Social Media and Blogs. The auto insurance ad and something from Russia was up there earlier. BTW I have no problem with you dipping into the revenue stream. Or trickle. As the case may be.

TH--I've got two of these advert bars on The Conservative Wahoo (http://conservativewahoo.blogspot.com). The algorithm takes its cues from the content of your blog--since mine (like yours) is often political, I get a stream of politically themed advertising....from both sides of the spectrum. There are procedures to block the unwanted stuff, but it is a pain the butt to keep up with. Early on, I got a lot of razzing from my readers when they'd read pro-Obama advertising. But I've been blogging for 9 months now and have made almost $200! Woo hoo!

I have an empty life apparently, since Google decided I'm not worth an ad of any sort at all. Yippee!
, atYes, Google bar ads at the top are now gone.

Alas, ads to study for my CPA!
I'd deny the implied comment on personality, except I'm already an actuary...
A feebleminded thought has occurred to me TH. Granted, I don't know anything about securing ads for a blog or if the potential returns are worth the trouble, but what about asking your readers who THEY do business with online and then post ads for the most popular ones? For example, I buy stuff on ebay and could click on a link supplied by TH almost as easily as going to my favorites file. Problem with many google ads is you don't know who is legit and who is not. Anyway. Just a thought.
