On my way home

As previously reported, if everything has gone according to plan I am somewhere over the north Atlantic when this post gets published. The twin miracles of jet travel and post-scheduling in Blogger.

Oh. You probably want a link to chew on. How about this short note from Glenn with advice to Tea Party organizers. My reaction: That the Tea Party movement would obviously benefit from this advice is scary evidence that the libertarian right is at least two generations behind the left in its understanding of civil protest and action. An old pro like Barack Obama has to be more amused by these protests than worried about them. The left is laughing for a reason.

If the right wants to succeed in civil resistance, it needs to study the tactics of the left and adopt the methods that are not incompatible with its own morality.

Well, maybe we've never had our country stolen out from under us before. I don't think it necessarily benefits us to follow the template of the left. We need to create our own way. And I don't exactly deem what they've accomplished "success". So, the tea parties are only a start.

"An old pro like Barack Obama"???

What else has he ever done but organize civil action? Since he accomplished nothing else in his professional life to date, I'd like to think he is at least an "old pro" at civil protest and action (or at least his teleprompter is). It speaks poorly enough of us that we elected him president. Please don't try to take away the "pro" designation from his only resume entry!

You can thank a teacher.

The Left has co-opted the public education system for decades now. All those little brainwashed minions and are voting the way they are supposed to vote. Note that Obama got a little over half the vote. That profane clown from Minnesota also won by barely half the vote. Expect things to get worse if this is allowed to continue.

Take back our public schools. Rehabilitation will take a long, long time.

On a separate note, one of the signs I saw at the tea party read: "Where will all the Canadians go when we get universal health care?"

I think it's going precisely the right direction, as long as the governors continue to be local leaders and not so nationally ambitious...they can be leaders of resistance of the federal government.

What kind of civil resistance do you think would be most beneficial?

You need to come up with a stunt that will get the attention of people. PETA does a great job getting publicity for its crackpot ideas. Not that we want to see "rich" people nude or anything.
