Iraq Votes - Yawn...Next?

I am struck by the emphasis in the MSM these days away from Iraq reporting and towards other political matters - Tom Delay, Tom Frist, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby. It seems that perhaps, like Afghanistan, there is a realization that Iraq is on the path to successful completion - at least as complete as any democratic experiment can be in dicey parts of the world. The MSM, like today's NYT (no link) lead editorial, will carp about errors and failures while at some grudging level acknowledge that Iraq's constitutional process and vote is a good thing (though it's not a very good constitution and there were a multitude of errors in getting there and there are no WMD and on and on).

Results folks. They are what counts. Iraq is a far better place today than it was in March 2003. And it will be an even better place in 2 years time. Nobody thought it would be easy, least of all this administration (MSM and liberal elite protestation to the contrary). Remember, the Bush I legacy was to walk away from precisely this challenge due to the fear of its very ugliness. So they understood --Cheney was the Bush I SecDef after all.

I think it's good news that the MSM seems pretty quiet on this front. It means they are getting ready to move on; and that Iraq is going the way of Afghanistan...to the back pages. That, by the way, is the best political strategy for the moderate democratic crowd. Make the war threat melt away, and focus on perceived "corruption and cronyism" in the republican leadership.

Yet suddenly the MSM gives us a bit more news on the Iraqi vote....when there is a charge of voter fraud!

MSM presents news mostly when it might just might be bad for the US and its allies.

That will show the world how fair and balanced they are....standing up to the MAN and speaking TRUTH TO POWER!

'Cause as anyone with a mind KNOWS all terrorism is Bush's fault...

Truth to Power: I always have to laugh out loud when I think of the absurdly arrogant Dan Rather, or the equally ridiculous Eason Jordan, when I hear that phrase. Truth to power: yes, that's exactly what Dan Rather did when he interviewed Saddam Hussein prior to our invasion of Iraq. He spoke Truth to Power. He asked him about gassing Kurds and invading Kuwait and murdering the Shiites and draining the Marshlands. Right? I think not. He was a complete P-ssy. Truth to power my As-. And Eason "TTP" Jordan - writes an op-ed piece acknowledging that they never reported truthfully in Iraq on CNN to preserve access to Saddam and the government and stay in business there -- while he accuses the US military of targetting journalists...and then stands in the way of the release of the videotape. Truth to Power My As-.

They speak BS to ratings. Lies to teenagers. But truth to power? Talk about having no sense of self, no sense of reality.
