Deconstructing the speeches of the season
Having argued for five straight days that Sarah Palin was a rube from the Alaska frontier and wholly unworthy to run on even the Republican ticket, the lefty chattering classes -- plus Peggy Noonan -- had lowered expectations for her speech at the RNC below the altitude of whale turd. When she blew the top off the convention and, at a minimum, ensured that the heretofore ambivalent right would turn out in droves, the same media was shocked and outraged that Palin actually had the temerity to attack the Democrats in the traditional style of vice presidential candidates. Palin was no longer too inexperienced for the job, she was too good at it. Must be neglecting her children!
Anyway, imagine my surprise to read that Barack Obama's speech actually contained many more attacks on the other side than Sarah Palin's.

TH ... with all this talk about the Messiah, one wonders where Chambers is to call us rascist for pointing out Obama's kettle calling the coffee black.
What's interesting to me is that I still speak with people who have no idea who William Ayers is, no knowledge of Rezco, little or no knowledge of Obama's church. She had no idea about the US magazine thing. It's pretty scary ... the MSM really does provide virtually all the news to a vast number of people.
Anon...
True, my girlfriend and her father HATE President Bush. When we had a spirited debate about the last 8 years everything they said was taken from the MSM and most of it was wrong, or a half truth. It is slowly dawning on her how much she has been lied to but it is really on uphill battle. There is just no balance in their reporting.
Ummmmm. This just in from Drudge:
Republican National Convention the most watched television event.
EVER.

For some reason, my liberal friends seem to think that any comment up to and including allegations of criminal nature made against a Republican are just "Constructive criticism", but if you so much as suggest a Democrat is wrong, then you have just made a "vicious personal attack".
*sigh* Four more years of BDS transferred to McCain. I can hardly wait.
