Annals of journalism: Bad timing at Forbes

Bought a copy of Forbes at the airport. The cover story seems poorly timed, insofar as there is no mention of the governor of Alaska:

Powerful women?

Oops.

I'm not sure being the governor of Alaska for 20 months puts you in the same ranks as Condi Rice. This is just an indication that McCain reached to an unexpected place for his selection. Maybe in November Palin will belong on the list, but right now, not so much.

I agree with the first comment. Lets talk again after the election.

I like the factthat they have Condi Rice...an African-American woman..on the cover and, I assume, at the top of their list given her prominent postion. Might just make some people ask about the advancement available in the Democratic Party.

The list includes such people as Christianne Amanpour, Katie Couric, and the woman who heads the Casablanca Stock Exchange. I think that if they were writing the story this week, rather than last, Sarah Palin would be on it.

Well I have to say, the last two weeks have seen some amazing entries in the anus of journalism.

My uncle used to work for a publishing company, you know with the fancy printing presses and shiny paper, in Des Moines. I liked to listen to his story, he is a character. He told me once that it's tough for weekly, bi-weekly magazines to get it right all the time especially with fast breaking news since they have the layout and stories for the whole magazine a week before it hits the news stand, it's probably ready at the publishers a week before that. To be sure this is one of those occasions that Forbes would like to have a do-over on I'm sure. gg
