Wallow in the righty glee

John Hawkins has rounded up a veritable orgy of rightroots joy. Don't miss Ace's one-liner.

And, if true, the claim that Sarah Palin's teleprompter stopped functioning half way through the speech will ignite another round of frenzied boosterism. As well it should.

I saw the teleprompter working about 2/3 of the way in. One was present (there appeared to be at least 2) in another shot somewhat earlier as well.

*is skeptical*

Good grief. Women crying, men screaming, mothers wanting to name their babies after her, bloggers hyperventilating. You'd think they all just listened to an Obama speech:~)

So can we all agree now that a great speech that electrifies the electorate is no longer a bad thing?

Good. Let the games begin.

ccording to the article, it didn't "stop functioning". The operator kept scrolling through the applause lines and was far ahead of Palin's actual point in the speech, forcing her to do much from memory.

Apparently the same thing happened to Rudy.

Talk about poise and composure, she did a fantastic job.

A caveat to the following comments that are reflective of my bias...I will vote for Obama in November, I hate Joe Biden, and I think Sara Palin is smokin' hot. All that said, I don't see her swinging many votes. She may capture a few middle of the road women voters, but the former Hillary supporters are not going to jump on board with a fundamentalist, anti-Rowe, right winger. Did McCain surprise us all with a strong pick for VP, sure, but I just don't see it changing the outcome. If people voted based on VP picks Dan Quale would have sunk Bush 41.

Wow.

Sarah Palin's speech drew just a tad fewer TV viewers than Obama's Temple Speech.

That's big news.

It changes the outcome because a whole bunch of those conservatives who have never forgiven McCain for his immigration stance, nor his infamous political donations legislation, will show up on the proper day at a voting booth, stand in line, and render their decision in his favor. They'll hate it, but they'll do it.

I would expect the turnout of McCain hating republicans to be offset by pro-choice women and african american voters.

About the viewership of the 2 speeches:

Listening to a local San Antonio talk radio program on the way home from work tonight, they mentioned this. And also mentioned that Palin's audience was over 4 fewer networks. Ten networks (including BET and one of the Spanish language networks) carried Obama's speech. Only six networks carried Palin's.
