The bogus banned books list
Palin Derangement Syndrome is now in full swing. Supporters of Barack Obama are distributing (and the Obama campaign hosted on its web site) an entirely faked list of books that Sarah Palin allegedly tried to ban from the Wasilla, Alaska public library when she was mayor. Problem is, they prove nothing other than that forgery is more difficult than it looks. There was no such list, and there is no evidence that Sarah Palin even asked to ban books. Full debunking here.

Completely right that she never asked to ban books. From the Malkin link:
"Sarah Palin asked the city librarian if she would be all right with censoring library books should she be asked to do so."
That's all Palin asked! Only a socialist would interpret that as attempting to ban books.
Just like the "troopergate" 'controversy' ... go to CNN. Even Anderson Cooper has video showing the brother-in-law admitting that he did what he's acused of. Just another bad cop hiding behind his badge. It got his boss fired, because he tried to protect him via the blue wall.
Asking a librarian if she'd do her job if instructed (and not illegal) isn't a scandalous question. Personally, I'd like leadership in
Washington that makes it crystal f'ing clear: do you jobs, do them ethically and completely, or hit the bricks.
When you ruffle feathers, and have the power to cut thru the beauracracy that protects people in their little pecking orders, you piss a lot of people off.
The list is definitely bogus (at least with respect to Palin), though it is true Sarah seriously pressured the City Librarian with respect to having some books removed, and that is definitely unacceptable in my book.
The best explanation I've seen thus far about what happened can be found at the Anchorage Daily News.
