Sometimes the stars just line up

Last night the Cubbies were featured on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball and throttled the rival St. Louis Cardinals 6-2 behind a great piching performance by Ryan Dempster, and some amazing glove work by ex-Card Jim Edmonds, who has been a big contributor to the Cubs in recent weeks.

I've despised the Cards for 25 years (I still have nightmares about Willie McGee, Vince Coleman, and of course John Tudor in '85) so its always nice to see them go down. Victory is that much sweeter in a pennant race, and the win maintained Chicago's 4 game lead over the Brewers, and extended their lead over St. Louis to 7 games.

Just to ice this cake, I was flipping between innings and was pleased to find TBS showing School of Rock, an idiotic Jack Black film that, for whatever reason, I am strangely drawn to. The timing of the inning changes in the Cubs game afforded me the opportunity to again see Jack Black's character Dewey Finn deliver his hilarious prayer before the battle of the bands.

God of Rock, thank you for this chance to kick ass. We are your humble servants. Please give us the power to blow people's minds with our high voltage rock. In your name we pray, Amen.
Sometimes the stars just line up for you.
