Barack Obama passes the hat in Switzerland
Sometimes, the attack ad just writes itself. Or something like that.
George Clooney is going to raise money for Barack Obama from Americans living in Switzerland:
Academy award winning actor George Clooney is set to host a fundraiser for Barack Obama in Switzerland next month.
The event, taking place on the evening of September 2 in Geneva, Switzerland will be split into two parts: a reception and a dinner. According to Obama’s National Finance Committee, tickets for the reception where Clooney will speak are going for $1,000, followed by a dinner at the home of NFC member Charles Adams for $10,000 a plate. Space for the dinner is limited to 75 guests.
Of course, there is a question that is probably more potent in the asking than in the answer: How many of Clooney's guests -- all Americans -- are toughing it out in Geneva until they can pull a Marc Rich?

, atI cannot believe he is doing this? Not to mention in the midst of the Republican convention. Could Obama give every day American's more reason to distrust him? The speakers at the convention will filet him over this. I am kind of excited that he and his people could be so completely obtuse to the average Joe and how he feels about peole like Clooney or other jet-setters who want a say in how America is being run, but do not live here...

I can only speak for myself. I'm a very average Joe but I happen to live in Switzerland. I would say that the vast majority of Americans living in Switzerland are pretty run-of-the-mill folks, believe it or not.
I won't be attending George Looney's event though.....

I think that the feline's comment is about how most Americans will see money raised abroad, even from other Americans, as being 'tainted' by foreign influence even if that is not true. Especially coming so soon after his ego-masturbating circus in Germany.
, atI guess donations are easier to afford once you have escaped the jurisdiction of the IRS.
