He needs a little fun in his life
With the seven-plus years he has had, the president deserves to let off a little steam at the Olympic Games. That said, how many Democrats could show this kind of self-restraint? You know, in light of recent developments.
More where that came from.

, atGood to see GWB with some sweat on the shirt and the skinned elbow after playing a little beach volleyball. Presidents don't get all the many opportunities to be regular guys, or to NOT show up in the suit and tie (as in Vladimir in his Botany 500 look).

Personally, I like the JFK style. A bit aloof, detached.
Yeah I know, it's the Ophrafication of America and every president has to be a talk-show-host-cum-next-door-neighbor.
I still don't have to like it.

Speaking of amusing Olympic moments, did anyone happen to catch this pretty serious gaffe at the opening ceremony?

Bill Clinton must be positively green...

With all due deference to the dignity of the office and all that, I've been quite taken with the disarmingly child-like glee which the President has shown at the Olympics. It's downright charming, and really strains the plodding dullard/Evil Machiavellian genius images in which the double-thinking BDS sufferers are so desperately invested.
That he also finds the time to deliver on-point but duly diplomatic statements on the human rights record of his host nation, and to confer with world leaders on the unfolding crisis in the Caucasus speaks to the admirable (if inevitably imperfect) versatility of this Administration.
I'm actually gonna miss this guy.
