Muslims, as a religion, call for prosecution of Israel

The head of the world's biggest Muslim body, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), called today for Israelis to be tried by an international war crimes court for "heinous" attacks against Palestinians.

Link.

It is hard to avoid wondering how the world's media would react if "Jews" or "Christians" called for the prosecution of Hamas or Hezbollah or al Qaeda or any number of other Islamist organizations for their war crimes, including the failure to wear a uniform, the deliberate targeting of civilians, the weaponization of civilians, and the violation of the rights of uniformed soldiers who are imprisoned. In all likelihood, the Western chattering classes would denounce a symmetrical Judeo-Christian response to this demand as baiting a "religious war," but is this not what Muslims do when they make these pronouncements under religious authority rather than national?

"under religious authority rather than national"

To Islamists, they're the same thing.

In 1935, NAACP president Walter White went undercover in the South (he has fair skin and blue eyes) to investigate lynching and found several Baptist pastors and even a Methodist bishop attending or blessing the events. In one instance a prominent rabbi in NYC signed onto one of White's open letters to the Amsterdam News, reprinted and syndicated in white papers across the country, condemning any clergy who assist, bless or look the other way. The rabbi stated that this bishop should be arrested and tried by local authorities. This same bishop issued something akin to a redneck fatwa against this guy and any Jew in the state who became a "troublemaker." Of course the "national" Methodist Church disavowed this guy, but didn't do anything to him. It was after all 1935. (smile).

The long and short of it: Nice try, Dr. Goebbels. Why don't you go over to the Princeton campus and try this on Muslim students and see what they think? Engage an internet pen pal on the west bank?I have a Muslim student in one of my classes helping with the Daniel Pearl Project Seminar, immensely critical of some of these clerics, the Pakistani government's love affair with religious extremists (which he and Christopher Hitchens... and myself...feel is akin to the love affair the GOP has with Christian Taliban and Wacko Jewish Settlers in Israel). So rather than play to the blockheads, why don't you engage others and see what they think?

PS--Enraged and wanting prosecution of some Israelis for "war crimes" doesn't equal genocide and/or holy war...

So Chris, you're saying that because there are some good Muslims, that Muslim groups cannot be held accountable for their pronouncements; and secondly, that because "several" Baptist ministers and a single Methodist bishop "gave their blessing" to lynchings in 1935 (that is inaccurate, BTW. It was more than a decade earlier) that Christians aren't - let me see - aren't allowed to criticize other religious bodies ever again?

I don't think that's an exaggeration of what you said, but maybe when it's stripped of its sneering it won't sound so good to you. It's sort of a one-drop rule you're applying here, isn't it?

Well, at least you stayed on topic this time.

Ain't that just like you, Chrissy, to drop to your knees to suck off any Islamofascist nutjobs who have it in for the Jews. First you say these guys are unfairly portrayed as typical (of course they're typical), then you stick up for them. You're a typical antisemitic nitwit, Chrissy.
