Saudi Arabia blames Hezbollah

The Saudis have decided to denounce somebody, and it's not Israel:

Saudi Arabia on Thursday blamed "elements" inside Lebanon for the violence with Israel, in unusually frank language directed at guerrilla group Hizbollah and its Iranian backers.

"A distinction must be made between legitimate resistance and uncalculated adventures undertaken by elements inside (Lebanon) and those behind them without recourse to the legal authorities and consulting and coordinating with Arab nations," a statement published on the official news agency SPA said.

"These elements should bear the responsibility for their irresponsible actions and they alone should end the crisis they have created."

The Saudis have just, *cough*, taken Israel's side, without quite saying as much. Now you know this fight is really with Iran.

We may be on the verge of the world taking serious turn for the worse.

No doubt about that -- I am more worried about the direction of this fight than anything that I've seen in a while.

The possibility of a wider, regional war can not be ignored. It remains to be seen what Israel's goals are, and how far Iran is willing to go to protect Hizb'allah.

Bully for the Saudi's!

Dirty bombs are over-rated. At least, that is what I have heard from everyone I know who has any knowledge of the subject. I suspect that Hizb'allah's denials vis-a-vis attacking Haifa indicates that they might have decided not to escalate any further.

You have surrogates like this precisely because they are in the final calculations expendable.

Actually - I think this is a startling historical watershed. I think it requires research, but this languagfe essentially says that if the sunni arab community has to choose, it will take Israel over Iran/Hez/shiites.

This is paradigm changing in the Middle East guys. It means the Sunni Arabs are telling Assad, it's ok with US if Israel disbands Hez and Hamas. Have at it. We, the Sunni Arabs, will live with Israel, but we will not tolerate any further advance of Iranian regional leadership. NFW.

The Iranian shiite islamic card has met its Waterloo. Perhaps wishful thinking, but i doubt it. When the Saudis start blaming somebody other than Israel for ANYTHING, the world has changed.
