Who knew it was "Nude Recreation Week"?

What with all the political and geopolitical news, I confess that I completely missed the beginning of "Nude Recreation Week." ABC News takes a close look at the exploding nude recreation industry. The article exposes the Chamber of Commerce angle:

Since 1992, the $400 million nude vacationing industry has tripled in size. There are now clothing-optional hotels and time-share condos in nearly every major tourist destination, nude cruises, and in-the-buff charter flights that won't let you fly by the seat of your pants.

Palm Springs is even catering to nudes, all in the interests of public safety:
Two years ago, the city kicked in $185,000 to help construct the world's first "Nude Bridge" — a $500,000 140-foot pedestrian crossing with canvas screens to accommodate the fast-growing Desert Shadows — a Mediterranean-style resort that includes a 33-room hotel, 59 one- and two-bedroom villas, 17 condos, four pools, a gym, putting green, and spa.

It seems that Desert Shadows guests were causing gridlock when they'd cross a local road to get from one side of the resort to the other.

I'm going to have to hit the gym more often.

Exploding nudes. Interesting visual.

This reminds me of something we happened upon back in the old days of C-band satellites and unscrambled programming. Following a movie, before we switched to another channel, a program on nudists launched. In horror and fascination we watched nude squaredancing. It is difficult to say whether those sashays forward or the retreating do-si-dos were worse. Whatever, I had never previously noted that some people are markedly swaybacked. We all wear clothes for the same reason that closets have doors.

I have a bad feeling that those nudes will look more like these people than the hotties at your link.

TH, that was huge almost a decade ago when we lived in the high desert. Back then, when I had a year-round tan and ran 6 miles a day, the spousal unit used to tease me mercilessless about checking into one of those dishy little hideaways in Palm Springs.

I was like... ummm. No way. It wasn't even that we looked so bad, or even, really, that I was particularly worried about being seen in a state of natural grace myself. I was about in the best shape I've ever been in in my life. But the idea of seeing people I didn't even know in the altogether really didn't turn me on.

I prefer to at least be formally introduced before learning whether they have an innie or an outie.

As one of the people that owns a nudist resort in Palm Springs, it is all about relaxing, meeting other people and having fun. People from all walks of life try nude recreation. Tall, short, thin, heavy, plain, pretty, Democrat, Republican, etc. You should try it some time. You don't have to be a card carrying nudist to try it.

Nude Recreation Week is July 9th to 15th 2007. I feel Nude Recreation Week has been poorly promoted by the two biggest nudist/naturist march madness organizations, AANR and The Naturist Society. Do you agree or disagree??Nude Recreation Week
