So now we're scapegoating the lap-dancers

'U.S. military blames lap dances for declining military discipline' - headline, World Tribune.com.

You can, apparently, have too much client service:

The U.S. Army's 2nd Infantry Division, which has 15,000 troops near the border with North Korea, recently sent letters to the South Korean Special Tourist Association and local mayors urging a crack down on lap dancing clubs near barracks.

Describing "client-focused exotic dancing" as the principal cause of worsening military discipline, the military letter called for local club owners to "prohibit any physical contact between dancers and (U.S.) customers."

We have 15,000 soldiers -- most of them male -- stationed within miles of one of the most hostile borders on the planet, and we have apparently decided that in order to maintain discipline we have to deny them "client-focused exotic dancing," a delight available to any insurance salesman in Dallas. Since the military has declined to specify what it means by "worsening military discipline," I'm guessing that there is in fact no such problem. The only question is whether the bureaucratic impetus for this directive is Political Correctness or Christian Correctness. Under the Bush Administration, it really could be either.

Credit to Drudge for spotting this.
