Sharon Drops Bombshell: Gaza Settlements to Go
"I am working on the assumption that in the future there will be no Jews in Gaza," the right-wing prime minister, once considered the godfather of the settlement movement, told the Haaretz newspaper.
There is a long way to go, and Sharon may yet falter, but he may be able to persuade Israelis and Palestinians alike that peace is better than intifada and reprisal. We shall see.
