Happy Easter!

The classic Easter hymn from the greatest choir in, or at the periphery of, Christendom:

I was in Salt Lake City a couple of weeks ago, and had a chance to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's open Thursday night practice. It was really quite something -- truly astonishing musical professionalism from ordinary Americans, and a stirring testament to faith. Not my faith, to be sure, but that does not make it any less impressive.

If you are Christian, take a moment to listen. If you are not, well, perhaps you have never heard it before.

Other versions: The University of Notre Dame Basilica, de English (with some nice pictures of Olde England), and smallchurch on YouTube (with lyrics).

Thank you for posting TH. My mother's funeral was held around Easter and this was sung at the end when people exited. It means a great deal to me and I had never heard these versions. Beautiful!

I can never hear the counterpoint of the sopranos and that solitary trumpet in F mastering all without tearing up.
