Bo knows
So, the secret is out, and the new First Dog will be named "Bo."
Maybe Nike will sign him to do a re-make of this famous ad, one of the company's all-time greats, in my opinion:

The dog came via Ted Kennedy. He's lucky they didn't name the water dog "Chappy."

Actually Tiger Hawk, Barack had initially named the dog, BOW, but then his advisors told him that maybe that was not a good idea ;)

What happened to the plan to rescue a shelter dog? I guess The One got all the political capital that he could out of it, so the plan was quietly discarded. Sort of reminds me of the "five days for the public to review the stimulus bill" plan.

These dogs are very unlikely ever to be found in shelters as their breeders agree to take them back if the original placement does not work. Apparently, the placement here did not work at first, so the breeder had the dog, and was able to place it at the White House. This is the story, and perhaps it is made up, but it is about as close to "rescue" as a Portie Puppy ever gets.
