Virginians are smarter than Terry McAuliffe thinks they are
I expect, and certainly hope, that Virginians, many of whom are my relatives, are smart enough to vote against Terry McAuliffe for governor. If there were a word that meant "smarmier than anybody else I've ever seen on television" I would use it to describe McAuliffe.

It's a measure of his hubris that he thinks he can win. The bulk of Virginians are horrified.
The unpredictable factor is the population center in Northern Virginia. "Reasonable" centrist Democrats like Tim Kaine, Marc Warner and Webb wond because they ran on a generally conservative platform and didn't have strong competition, except for the Webb/Allen race....wherein the Washington Post single-handedly trashed a fine man and friend.
On the whole, though, I would say that McAuliffe will lose...if he even gets that far.
One can never underestimate the ability of the Virginia Republican party to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory, however....
Just like Franken, Murtha, Kennedy and Kerry in Minn., Penn., and Mass.? And did I mention the intellects in California?

Does anyone else feel that if "Mr. Franken goes to Washington" then we can truly say that Congress has "jumped the shark"?

What a farce. I think Virginians will do the right thing and reject this oily con man, although I expect that here in progressive Charlottesville he will be warmly embraced. "Ack barf," to quote Bill the Cat.
