Detroit Three clownwatch: Now they're driving to Washington

Ford Motor Co. says CEO Alan Mulally will travel by car when he makes his return trip to Washington, D.C., to seek $25 billion in government loans.
Two weeks ago, Alan Mulally's time was so valuable that he had to fly a private jet from Detroit to Washington to plead for federal bailout money for Ford. Now his time is so worthless that he can burn 20 hours driving, or at least riding, in an automobile to and fro Washington. Well, Alan, which is it? Is every moment of your day added value for Ford's
Next time, fly commercial and spare us the drama. And hey, if you make a habit of it you can board first and even get free upgrades!

, atIt's even worse than that. Since a reasonably full passenger aircraft (airliner, NOT a corporate bizjet) gets about 100 passenger miles per gallon of fuel, they are actually MORE fuel efficient than taking a car. Unless, of course, they take one of their little efficiency models and carpool!

If I were a Detroit biggie, I'd remind that bunch of DC stiffs that my airplane is smaller than wide load Pelosi's 767.
She whined about the audacity of having to stop once to refuel on her way to San Fransicko so loudly she was upgraded to a larger airplane.
Oh, the humility. Gimme a break!
