Unintended consequences: Al Qaeda opens a door for women in Iraq

Al Qaeda in Iraq, which has had a very difficult time recruiting men to blow themselves up, has increasingly turned to female suicide bombers. This has been a obscenely effective tactic against Iraqi security forces, because male soldiers and officers are unwilling (for reasons of culture and religion) to frisk women. Out of necessity more than modernity, the Iraqi national police are finally recruiting, admitting, training, and arming female cops. So, to recap: The Islamist terrorists who aspire to a world in which women must lead cramped, circumscribed, and oppressed lives converted them into delivery systems for high explosives, thereby forcing open the door of opportunity for Iraqi women who want to do the manly job of walking a beat in the war on terrorism.

Blowback goes both ways.

It has often been said that feminism in the United States took a huge step forward when Rosie the Riveter put down her clothes iron and started stitching warships together. Perhaps the Islam of 50 years from now will resemble the corner Arab market in Anaheim and not the mosque in Rihad.

You know, this is a direct result of McCain's cynical VP pick. You let one uppity bitch get away with thinking she can do a man's job, and it just opens the door.

No wonder the Dems are so panicked by Palin. First they wander off the reservation, then they blow themselves up. I wonder if this can be repackaged as "Muslim women exercise right to choose - to detonate."
