I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this post is meant to be sarcastic. I'm usually not good at spotting irony on the blogs at The Atlantic, but in this case I think I've nailed it.

You are right abiout irony. There are no Republicans in the vacation center of the Peoples Republic of Taxachusetts.
