Drill now, drill here, and especially drill off California

Contrary to the argument put forth by the opponents of offshore drilling, we could get new oil from the California coast in short order. Let's do it.

Residents of coastal states should get a kickback from the sale of oil off coastal waters, just like Alaskan citizens get a portion of the proceeds off oil taken from public lands. Then let the people decide. Right now it is painless (sort of) to vote for restrictions.

But, only if the evil Republicans guarantee that neither the views nor the beaches of Barbra Streisand and other California nobility are not effected. Better gas should go to $15 a gallon!
