Self-beclowning
Gore Vidal, who purports to know history but has no historical perspective, said this to a Spanish newspaper:
It will take the United States a century to recover from the damage wreaked by President George. W Bush, US writer Gore Vidal said in an interview published on Saturday.
"The president behaved like a virtual criminal but we didn't have the courage to sack him for fear of violating the American constitution," Vidal told the El Mundo newspaper.
The author, a trenchant critic of the US-led invasion of Iraq, said it would take the United States "100 years to repair the damage" caused by Bush.
"We live in a dictatorship. We have a fascist government ...which controls the media," he said.
Vidal also said presidential aspirant Barack Obama was "intelligent" adding that it would be a "novelty" to have an "intelligent" person in the White House.
Fool.

He topped that load of buffoonery (yes, hard to believe) with this followup about McCain:
Vidal: "Who started this rumor that he was a war hero? Where does that come from, aside from himself? About his suffering in the prison war camp?"
The interviewer (lucky person) replied: "Everyone knows he was a prisoner of war in North Vietnam."
To which Vidal responds: "That’s what he tells us."
Why would you doubt him? the reporter wonders.
"He’s a graduate of Annapolis," Vidal explains. "I know a lot of the Annapolis breed. Remember, I’m West Point, where I was born. My father went there."
I guess all of those fellow POWs with McCain also made the whole thing up.
Geezus.

Vidal was beclowned from the moment he was conceived. This talentless buffoon has never contributed anything to public discourse other than bile, frequently enriched with his repellent antisemitism.

The only reason the media listen to this moron is because he's 'controversial' and 'anti-establishment', from which follows that he's 'ooh-soo-brave'.
Well, that particular emperor has no clothes and never has. Every time he opens his mouth, more people start to realize that.

You'd take Vidal much more seriously if he hit you with his purse.

The man is senile and also bitterly disappointed that there is no hereditary aristocracy in America.

Yea I guess it doesn't take many brains to make note that George Bush is moron.

If Bush is a moron, what does that say about those democrats who claim he "tricked them"?

I have long thought that the future dem excuse for their failures will be, 'Bush screwed up so badly it will take years to undo.' This line will be a sort of get out of jail free card to explain their policy failures.

"We live in a dictatorship. We have a fascist government ...which controls the media," he said.
...and then the Secret Service took Mr. Vidal out with a single shot to the forehead....
Not.
Sadly, the American public was never to read his prophetic words, but luckily for them we have Christopher. Mein Gott in Himmel, I just hope those jackbooted fascists never discover his secret hiding place :p
