The Amish have a cultural and religious injunction against having photographs of people, considering them graven images. When I asked an Amish friend about it, she said that the problem with having pictures was more about suppressing personal pride and vanity, which go against the leveling emphasis of their faith-based community. They would not presume, however, to impose this prohibition on outsiders.
