Grand Central Station

Maggie's Farm has a nice post, with pictures, about taking the train into Grand Central Station. I commuted through Grand Central from Bronxville in the summers of 1980 and 1981, and remember it with a certain nostalgia. I, too, like standing in the front of the front car and looking forward, and there is certainly something bizarrely attractive about the smells of the station, which compare very favorably to those of Penn Station. I passed through the station for the first time in years a couple of months ago, and it really has been restored beautifully. If you come to New York as a tourist, be sure to visit Grand Central. And don't be inhibited about looking the part -- go ahead and gawk at the beautiful ceiling.
