T-shirt subversion on Martha's Vineyard

Judging by the yard signs and the bumper stickers and the ubiquitous publicity for the upcoming fundraiser, the politically incorrect in these parts are deep underground. That does not mean, though, that a happy few of us are not willing to bring the battle into the belly of the beast.

We went fishing for blues today with my step-brother and various of his hangers-on. Since he is staying on "Chappy", we went over there this morning to pick up his group before going to the boat in Edgartown harbor, and that put me in close proximity to the bridge at Chappaquiddick. Wild donkeys could not keep me away.

Truth be told, it is not the same bridge that Ted Kennedy could not stay on back in 1969; it was rebuilt a few years after that tragedy with, as you can see, the sturdiest guard rails imaginable for a bridge over a shallow creek. Otherwise, it is not distinguished; there are no souvenir stands or other indicators of its place in history, probably because the locals would strongly object, both on the merits and because such things would draw crowds they do not want. Nevertheless, I was delighted to memorialize that solemn spot wearing my new "O'Reilly Factor" logo shirt, the item in my wardrobe most likely to irritate a Kennedy supporter.

On the bridge at Chappaquiddick

Mrs. TigerHawk peered over the edge and declared "It doesn't look very deep." No, it doesn't.

Unfortunately, my step-brother -- who coaches lacrosse at a West coast university -- decisively topped my O'Reilly-at-Chappaquiddick gambit with a shot at the heart of the PC "narrative":

Witch hunt

Yes, it says "Duke Lacrosse 1st Annual Witch Hunt" around a bonfire of lacrosse equipment, and the legend underneath says "Evidence is overrated." Under the circumstances, it is almost tame.

And, yes, I caught a fish.

That T-shirt is very cool! Screw 'em if they can't take a joke. By the way, did you happen to notice any wind farms over towards the Cape? No? Wonder why...probably short on Riverkeepers or some such nonsense.

Nice chopper blue. I went for rockfish (striped bass) on the Chesapeake earlier this month and the blues were all over the top. It was hard to get a bait down to where the rock were. It seems as if the blues on on an upswing in their decades long boom or bust cycle. I hope there is enough for them to eat.

Blues that size are great to eat. Many folks don't like them because they taste too fishy. Well, if you don't like a fishy taste, don't eat fish!

Heck, as a well-respected and well-read blogger, you should be able to get a “Comp” ticket for that event. Go for it (and wear the shirt).
