Pictures of Ithaca and Cornell University
We drove up to Ithaca this morning to drop my son off at a day camp, and spent the afternoon walking around. Mrs. TigerHawk, who grew up here, guided the tour, which took us up through one of the long gorges toward Cornell's campus, and then through "college town," where we ate excellent and inexpensive food at the Souvlaki House on Eddy Street (the guy behind the counter, who we trust owns the place, has been there since my wife was an undergraduate more than 25 years ago).
Anyway, those of you who have lived in Ithaca or may someday might enjoy these pictures. Click on them to get larger versions.

, atFunny, I was just listening to an interview with someone who lives in Ithaca tonight, so this is a bit of synchronism.

That waterfall and stream look familiar. Were there leeches in the water? I had a bad experience with leeches one day back in 79'...

Well, this post was a surprise!
Living in Princeton, I expect to read about familiar things on this blog but pictures of Ithaca and of Cornell weren't expected at all. Isn't the campus beautiful in July? It's like that twelve months a year, trust me. Sort of.

Wow... this place is gorges! Giggle, giggle, snort.

"Sort of"
Ithaca's the only place I've lived where they have high winds AND thick fog at the same time.
I'm glad I'm living in Princeton.
Souvlaki House? How does it compare to the Hoagie Haven? I really enjoyed Souvlaki from the Haven. They, and Italian cold cut subs, got me through researching my thesis.
I've only been to Cornell once. Right after graduation, with a neighbor who went there, to pick up party gear. I don't recall if you were at that party, but Chris and other TI guys along with classmates were.

Come back in February ;) Take a walk down Tower Rd. The wind blows in both directions (whichever way you're NOT walking) and pelts you with snow and ice the whole time.
I grew up in Ithaca also. Went to Cornell. Still work there...lovely town if you can tolerate the ambiance.
Lots of Ithacans here on TigerHawk's blog today...

Cornell is a beautiful place from May through September. For the remainder of the seasons, it is the armpit of Cayuga's lake effect precipitation.
