Damning with faint blurbs
Mrs. TigerHawk churns through novels at an alarming pace, so there are lots of paperbacks with well-blurbed covers lying around. I could not help but notice Janet Maslin's one-liner on the cover of Lee Child's most recent novel, The Hard Way
The best thriller writer of the moment.
If that isn't damning with faint blurbs, I don't know what is. The question is, why did the publisher think Maslin's quotation would sell more books? Because she wrote it in the New York Times?
(For what it is worth, Mrs. TigerHawk thinks Lee Child is excellent.)
