The Fourth of July
Yesterday evening, when it was already the Fourth of July in many parts of the world, I saw our neighborhood eagle again, this time in a tree high above our boathouse:
Happy Fourth of July!

Stunning!
So glad Ben Franklin didn't get his way in choosing our national bird.

Jeez, I'd (thankfully) forgotten all about that. It's just stunning that such a gifted and far-sighted man would pick such a bird for our national symbol.
For those of you not in-the-know, would you like to guess just what this wise and wonderful man thought our national bird should be?
The dove?
The chicken?
Worse.
The turkey. :/
I did, however, come up with a fun thought while reading over Mrs G's comment. Given a delightful play on words, what bird most represents the Democrats' idea of what our national bird should be?
The quail.
Perhaps I should have said 'what our national bird should do'.

Wow! There are eagles in Princeton? The family's lived here for 8 years, and I didn't know we had any wildlife beyond a deer-and-rabbit problem, and some geese at the lake.

No, Ray. We're up at our place in the Adirondacks, where there be eagles.
, atI got to see a BALD EAGLE sitting on its nest on the 4TH OF JULY what a treat
