Cindy Sheehan "steps down"
Cindy Sheehan is apparently surprised to learn that the Democrats used her for partisan advantage:
Announcing her decision on Memorial Day, the anniversary on which the US remembers its war dead, she said that her announcement had been prompted by the recent hostility she had faced from Democrats.
"I was the darling of the so-called left as long as I limited my protests to George Bush and the Republican party," she wrote. "However, when I started to hold the Democratic party to the same standards that I held the Republican party, support for my cause started to erode, and the 'left' started labelling me with the same slurs that the right used."
On Saturday, in an open letter to Democratic members of Congress, she announced that she was leaving the party because she felt its leaders had failed to change the country's course in Iraq.
I've been awfully hard on Cindy Sheehan in the past, but only because I assumed she knew she was a tool of the partisans and delighted to serve that purpose. It is actually sort of sad to think that all along she believed that her supporters were sincerely interested in victory for her cause, as opposed to victory for their candidates.

I dunno. I got the impression, from her "letter" at DailyKos, that she was just really bitter (the surge, congress letting her down) and lashing out.
I see her as someone who has never taken the time to mourn her son. It takes years in my experience...to overcome the grief, sorrow, anger, sense of loss etc...I get the impression she hasn't done that...at least, not from her public statements. I mean, that range of emotions don't seem to be represented in what she has said over time. Just vitriol.
Maybe now she can do it right.
I agree on the grieving process, but Sheehan's just learning that she's a *sucker*.
The same clowns who used her voted for the war, to fund it, to protect this country, and would do so again. ESPECIALLY if their handlers say that's what American's want.
I don't think you have to lose a son or daughter to understand her pain, bitterness, anger but people die in war. And we're in one, and it's going to continue. As long as some psycho is willing to torture and behead non-Muslims, or fight a dirty fight because we don't believe what they do, we'll be at war. When they're done, there'll be someone new.
Yesterday was our day to pay respects to the millions who've served, and those who've died before her son, for the same basic cause. I respect them all, even John Kerry for serving. I don't respect the horse manure that followed in politics from Kerry or Murtha and their like, but that's just politics.
What's more troubling is a view of the cast of jokers running on the left and right. Tigerhawk ... we need a president with a brain.
What's up with your candidacy :)?

Maybe this is too harsh, but I see this as just another stunt to get attention.

I'm a supporter who is sincerely interesed in victory for her cause.
She's been kicked around by people like you for years, and then the Party she was counting on to actually do something failed her yet again.
Now maybe after a long rest she will realize that the demacratic party of liars and crooks took advantage of her and then give them a bit of trouble

She's learned The Lesson of the Human Shield.
Hoolie:
If her "cause" was to promote peace, then I think we're all supporters. But this arse was engaged in a lot of self-promotion and got her 15 seconds of fame. You can't have peaceful interaction with non-peaceful people. Although it's tragic that her son, and so many other's sons and daughters have died fighting for the USA, and while it's true that no everyone believes we should be there, that's just the way it is.
Cindy should pay close attention to how far the pacifist candidate gets. Clinton ain't going strong on the anti-war, you can bet on that. Obama and Edwards will, but they won't win. I seem to recall she also tried running for Congress, or some such thing. She played her hand, and came up against her "party's" machine.
Oh well. Maybe a movie with Michael Moore, or back to whereever she came from.
Sheehan was a whacko moonbat, too much of a nutjob for even the left. Do you remember her "US out of North America" remarks about New Orleans after hurricane Katrina?
In a dispatch on leftist filmmaker Michael Moore's website, Sheehan said she was troubled by the "level of the military presence" in the Gulf Coast state.
<"George Bush needs to stop talking, admit the mistakes of his all around failed administration, pull our troops out of occupied New Orleans and Iraq, and excuse his self from power,"... Sheehan said she had "imagined before that if the military had to be used in [continental U.S.] operations that they would be there to help the citizens: Clothe them, feed them, shelter them, and protect them. But what I saw was a city that is occupied.">
She was pilloried by the right and used, abused and tossed aside after serving her purpose by the left. I have some compassion for her inasmuch as it's always worse when the abuse comes from people you thought were your friends.
Screwy Hoolie: I'm a supporter who is sincerely interested( sic) in victory for her cause.
So you agree with her support of terrorist-enabling lawyer Lynn Stewart?
Do you also agree with her embracing of following-in-the-footsteps-of-Adolf’s-enabling-law Hugo Chavez?
She is a pathetic character and shallow thinker who dishonored her son's memory. The less said of this woman, the better.

Gotta suck when you're a moonbat and THEN realize you're dumber than a bag of rocks and a sucker too.

["Good-bye America ... you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can't make you be that country unless you want it.
"It's up to you now."]
Wow ... just how narcissistic is that?
That's just it - she's not a thinker at all. She's a believer and a feeler and an actor. If thinking were a part of the formula, she would have known where she stood from the beginning.

Interesting to review her blog from August 2005:

I have received dozens of emails with this heading: Go Home and Take Care of Your Kids. I think of all the name calling and unnecessary and untrue trashing of my character, this one offends me the most. What do the people who send me this message mean?

The Peaceful Occupation of Crawford:
...
When I arrived at Camp Casey II this afternoon I was amazed at what has changed since I was gone. Now, we have a huge tent to get out of the sun; caterers; an orientation tent; a medic tent (with medics); a chapel, etc.
It's taken her a long time to realize that huge tents, catering, four days of personal Joan Baez concerts, and endless political speeches in the full glare of the world media are no substitute for personal grieving.
And now she's back at square one, having accomplished nothing. It's sad. She listened to all the wrong people, and was used and spit out.
She's been kicked around by people like you for years, and then the Party she was counting on to actually do something failed her yet again.
Meaning she's been kicked around by people like you too.
With comments like the one about the country caring more about American Idol than the number of deaths, does she really expect support from the American public?
I hope she finds some quiet peace about the sacrifice of her son.

Spouting truther crap and getting cozy with commies didn't do much to enhance her appeal.
When she drifting off message into the full blown crank zone, she started drifting off the radar scope.
This is a self-inflicted oblivion.

Hopefully she now has time to get the help she needs instead of being exploited by a bunch of leftists.
, atMaybe she can get another hug from Jesse Jackson. I know how much better that would me me feel.
