One last Imus post: Les Moonves finds religion
In the firing of Don Imus, CBS Chief Executive Officer Les Moonves is apparently amazed to learn that our airways contain "objectionable expression":
CBS fired Imus Thursday from the radio show that he has hosted for nearly 30 years.
"He has flourished in a culture that permits a certain level of objectionable expression that hurts and demeans a wide range of people," CBS Corp. chief executive Leslie Moonves said in a memo to his staff.
If the staff at CBS television isn't rolling on the floor over that last one then it simply doesn't know comedy gold when it sees it. Imus "flourished" working for Les Moonves. Mr. Moonves, Imus' "culture" of hurting and demeaning "a wide range of people" -- if that is what he did -- is your culture.
Not only is the bullshit encrusting the Imus kerfuffle vast in quantity, it has been rendered into a very pure form.

In one of those moments that come along so infrequently in a lifetime that we are forced to treasure them for their pure crystalline beauty, I hereby nominate Les Moonves (whoever he is) as first Secretary of Peace and Nonviolence.
You really can't make this shit up.
CBS stands for the COMMUNIST BROADCASTING SYSTEM and AL SHARPTON in no revrend he is a fake as authentic as a 3 dollar bill

I've never heard Imus on the radio. I've come across his cable show a few times as I search for something of interest. He has never made me linger. He looked like a doofus and had a lobotomous way of speaking. Be that as is may, his firing by the commie rats at CBS was bogus, man!
A few other quotes of Imus are in the April 14th issue of The Economist:
...calling the New York Knicks "chest-thumping pimps"..and Hillary Clinton "that buck-tooth witch Satan".
Jesse Jackson was pontificating about Imus' racism and was asked about his saying "hymietown" to describe New York. Jackson said that was different because it didn't demonstate a "pattern" of offensive speeech. Uh, okay that makes sense.
Reverend Al Sharpton? Don't get me started.
It's the same old same old. White boys can't use the language of the black street and get a pass. That's just the way it is.
Well, call me a cynic, but isn't the real reason for this hankie-twisting by certain media execs that the sponsors pulled out? Imus was a lot less entertaining once the big guys started losing money.
Not that I disagree with the result, by the way. For as much as Imus has a habit of being crude and insensitive, that's no excuse. This time, he chose to spill his bile on a bunch of young people who didn't deserve to be made fun of, much less the butt of a mean-sprited "joke." Let him go work with Howard Stern.
And yes, it is unfair that Jesse "Hymie-town" Jackson and Al "Brawley" Sharpton get off. There's a double standard, for sure. But that doesn't mean we all have to lower ourselves to that level.

Imus has freedom of speech, he can say whatever he wants.
CBS has freedom of association, they chose not to associate with such a free-speaking individual.
Good for both of them. I choose not to associate with Imus either.
