Jon Corzine vs. the Garden State Parkway

New Jersey's governor, Jon Corzine, got in a terrible accident last night on the Garden State Parkway. After a two hour surgery he remains in critical condition, having broken his leg, six ribs, his sternum, and having fractured a vertebrae.

Ouch. Fortunately, da guvna is expected to recover. We wish him well.

I deplore many of Jon Corzine's substantive policy positions, but I like him. He is honest, surprisingly modest, and hard-working. He has taken on an enormous challenge in New Jersey, we having one of the most wasteful and incompetent state governments in the country. There are very few people in this state who are both electable and would make a better governor. We need him back on the job.

He should have been wearing a seat belt. "Click it or Ticket" as they say in New Jersey.

I also was wondering if he was wearing a seat belt. Hard to say, considering the damage done to his vehicle.

Maybe in the future he will choose to ride in the back?

Since he lives mostly in Manhattan I'm surprised he was traveling by car instead of flying. I heard on the radio he was driving back to Princeton when the accident occurred, for the meeting between Imus and the Rutgers women's team. Was the rain really that much of a factor?

I'm sorry he was injured but I'm flabbergasted you think "He has taken on an enormous challenge in New Jersey," Taken on in what sense? What has he done to improve NJ? He's kow-towed to the beauracracy all the way. Check out some posts on enlightennj.blogspot.com.

I, for one, don't care what happens to Corzine. I think the world would be a much better place without the socialists of his party, both in Trenton and in Washington. Perhaps we should wear our seatbelts and keep the speed under 90mph. Gotta love a politician who has lived the American dream, risen to the top of his profession on Wall St., and then turns into a tax-and-spend liberal. Bad things happen to bad people. Karma is a bitch.
