What makes this a bit less funny is that to write this they might have either believed it or thought their readers would.

And to find that believible it is in all likelihood has happenned or is happenning. There.

Pravda loves pitching the conspiracy angle. They're the Russian analog to Weekly World NEws.

Wow. I mean, wow.

Al Sharpton as the secret tool of the Bush administration? I think he has to go on CNN and prove that's not the case.

I'm a native Russian speaker and surf Russian web sites regularly. They are full of mistrust and suspicion toward US (fair or not), but this article was way too much even for that milieu.

This article is an Opinion piece in 'english.pravda.ru' which has entirely different content from 'www.pravda.ru' proper. That's right, articles you read in Pravda English section almost never replicated in the Russian section. So this piece was certainly for foreign consumption. To repeat, ordinary Russian people would never read this piece. At the bottom it states,

By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers.

Who is Sorcha Faal? Apparently, a nome de plume of some David Booth, who runs 'whatdoesitmean' website.

So it looks like this piece was produced by some American and adressed to Americans (via Pravda).

Candide -

Nice post, thanks for the clarification. It's somewhat of a relief.
