Vindication for Diebold?

Ann Coulter makes a good point:

History was made this week! For the first time in four election cycles, Democrats are not attacking the Diebold Corp. the day after the election, accusing it of rigging its voting machines. I guess Diebold has finally been vindicated.

If Democrats were smart, they would be. There were multiple problems with voting machines all across the country. There's no reason these machines shouldn't leave a paper trail .

Um...no. And Annie needs to go underground for awhile. She's been in the hotseat as of late.

Diebold was on it's pees and ques b/c even GOP candidates were embarassed. The old political donation trail had been under scrutiny as of late. In short, somebody shined a big-ass flashlight on them. But Annie should take heart--the 08 elections are coming up and there's plenty of opportunities for deviltry. I dunno, but "President Mitt Romney" kinda of rings, doesn't it?

See this recent documentary on HBO as of late:

She is just a little pissed, as a lot of us are.

She will get over it and be nice, just wait and see.

But I wouldn't hold your breath.

I would prefer that she get out and on the tube and let everyone know each and every move that the democrats make.

Kinda like a fly on the wall with the volume of a bull in heat.

Here in Chicago, we aren't complaining about Diebold because (a) the City used Sequoia machines and (b) almost all the voters used paper ballots when the machines were down, which they were most of the day in my precinct and many others. So, no need to complain about the touch screens when they represented only a tiny portion of the votes cast!

That we Dems took Congress has no reflection on whether or not we think black box voting sucks and should be abolished, with every voter having a verifiable paper trail for every vote. That the election wasn't stolen doesn't mean that it could not have been.

But do we have to focus on that very real danger to democracy (on which all Americans should agree; I've never understood why any voter would be happy with less verification for their vote than they would want for an ATM transaction) when we're busy just trying to see if we won? And, now having won (provided Allen conceds), can't we have a small bit of time to just breathe a sigh of relief that we didn't (again) steal defeat from the jaws of victory?

Coulter usually vilifies Democrats and liberals for complaining too much. Now we're not complaining enough? Whatever fills the column inches I guess, but this one is more than a little eyeroll-inducing.

The Diebold (and others) hardware and software architectures are still terrible. A dem win doesn't erase the fundamental flaws these systems have (no I'm not talking about the goofy paper trail argument).

Oh come on! This is funny.

I have been trying for days not to snark at this, but the urge is becoming overwhelming.

When the Dems lost in close elections, we had months of talk about litigation and contested elections. Now the Rethugs have lost in several close elections and...

*crickets chirping*

We had several gracious speeches about "the people have spoken".

What a difference.

And the DEAFENING silence from the folks who right up to the election were screeching that the electoral process could not be trusted...until, of course, the "right" outcome occurred.

As the Phrench say, it is to laugh.
