Absurd forecast of the day

From a marketing report prepared by a well-regarded consulting firm specializing in advice to the medical device industry:
If there is not a change in attitudes and lifestyle, estimates indicate that 100% of the U.S. population will be obese by the year 2230.

Gack. If in 225 years we are all obese, perhaps we won't mind if we are forced to wear loose-fitting, total-coverage clothing. It's almost enough to make me re-think the war against al Qaeda.

Hell, by current trends the entire population of the US will be Elvis impersonators within 50 years.

Please.

Hence the use of the word "absurd" in the title of the post.

This raises two thoughts in my mind:

First, if current trends in body piercings and tatooing do not change either, things are going to look pretty weird down at the mal.

Second, I wonder what kind of medical device they are peddling in this context!
