Rumors of Zarqawi's death redux

Winds of Change and Wizbang! and probably everybody else are reporting new rumors of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's demise. Via Winds:
Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi - al-Qaeda's leader in Iraq - died on Friday and his body is in Fallujah's cemetary, an Iraqi Sunni sheikh, Ammar Abdel Rahim Nasir, has told the Saudi on-line newspaper Al-Medina. He claims that gunfights which broke out in Fallujah in the last few days involved militants trying to protect the insurgency leader's tomb from a group of American soldiers patrolling the area.

As Winds of Change points out, it should be easy to confirm Zarqawi's death. Find the alleged grave, take a sample of the corpse's DNA, and run it against DNA from Zarqawi's family, which certainly ought to be on file.

We shall see if this rumor survives the weekend. If Zarqawi is in fact dead, we will be able to close the case on one of the great mass murderers of this young century.
