Carnival of the Commies: The Lefty Blogs on the debate
1. Atrios is loading up the post-debate polls. If you want a comprehensive list of polls to counter-spin, go here.
An Eschaton commenter says thusly:
Kerry the clear winner. Bush was chattering like a chimp on benzadrine spitting cobra venom. Parden me while I wash the slime ozzing out from my TV set as it's not used to having to be tuned in on Chimpy for such an extended peroid of time.
2. Apparently Kerry's claim that Bush "owns" a lumber company stems from $84 of partnership income on his 2001 tax return. Yes, eighty-four actual dollars. Under that theory, I own Microsoft.
More Atrios:
Same thing, different debate.
...man, NBC isn't doing enough reaction shots, but when they do Bush sure is superfreaky.
...did Bush really say he was disappointed he didn't find any weapons of mass destruction? That's *really* superfreaky...
3. One of the Scrutiny Hooligans, Uptown Ruler, thinks Kerry ruled:

Poor George...
Tonight's Debate was better than Boxing.
Better than the Rubble in the Jungle when Muhammed Ali kicked George Foreman Ass.
Kerry WILL be a better President!
Let's Make Him the Next One...
Over at Kos, they can't believe that MSNBC's commentators thought Bush did well -- "What debate did they watch? That's what you get for an all-GOP panel."
The commenters at Kos, though, are not declaring victory:
On the substance of the statements, yes, Kerry wins. But there were stylistic mistakes by Kerry and none that I saw from Bush, who was able to spread congeniality at will.
But others didn't like the whacking at Gibson:
Bush screaming at the audience and yelling at Gibson? That ain't congeniality. maybe congenital defect...
The Kos readers are definitely not pumped:
I'm not surprised at the spin, though I had hoped for a clean kill by Kerry. Kos nailed it before a word was ever uttered in the debate.
4. Off the blogs, staring at Hillary on MSNBC: What up with the weird tan? I have never seen her with a weird tan. Doesn't she know that it's bad for you?
5. AMERICAblog is all about the poll-spinning. Use their links against 'em!
6. Kos gropes, and then sends his troops off to spin polls:
Well, the consensus seems to be that since Bush wasn't as horrible as last time, then he won or battled to a draw. Bizarre.
Keep hitting the online polls.
I see no triumphalism on the left tonight, which to my mind is the best measure of Bush's success. I'll keep looking, and post more if I see it.
Of course, for a round-up of reactions from blogs to the right, Allah is all-knowing.
UPDATE (Saturday morning): William Saletan: "Who runs Kerry's debate prep? Michael Dukakis?"
