Baseball Fever

The playoffs are underway. As I expected, the Cardinals destroyed the Dodgers, smacking 5 home runs (equalling the number hit by the '84 Cubs in the NLCS opening game against the Padres). I don't see the Dodgers making a lot of noise in this series.

The Red Sox took a 1-0 lead over the Angels with a 9-3, avoiding the slow start that almost sent them packing early last year. I think the Angels are capable of answering, however, and much will depend on whether Pedro Martinez brings it today. It should be a good series.

Of course we won't get to watch any of it in prime time because of those network hogging Yankees. They were shut down agains the Twins and their main man, Johan Santana, who shut them out 2-0. John Lieber best come up big today against Radke, or the Yanks could be in big trouble. Jason Giambi, by the way, is not on the roster for this series.
