In Case You Were Left Behind During The Rapture...

...and you haven't figured out what to do with yourself in the four months or so since:

Damn! I wondered what had happened to the neighbors.

All present and accounted for, sir!

Wonder who's missing.

I love how confident he is that *he* will get rapture'd up. No doubt he's poking the secretary on the side, or dipping into the office petty cash, but it's cool, he and God are big buds, and He'll let it slide.

What a load of crap.

"No doubt..."

Projection?

I love folks like this. Them that think their "god" speaks to them, or think that they are those whom should bear the word of their "god" to the great unwashed multitudes. I'll state here that I'm an atheist, a non-believing heathen. But, not a rub it in your face and ridicule your faith kind. But, doessn't it take great chutzpah to think that you are the one "chosen" to deliver the message to everyone else ? To think that you know whom is and is not going to be raptured ? I mean, imagine for a moment that there is a overarching deity of one type or another. Who the heck are "you" to think that you can determine whom gets raptured,or not, to decide that you are "chosen" to be His/Her representative and spokesperson on earth. Wouldn't a deity be able to decide and speak for his/herself ? Or identify without any confusion whom has been chosen to spread the "word" Again, I'm not a believer, but, for anyone to put themselves in the position of "knowing" anything about their "god's" decisions making seems a bit overly self important.

While rational in its way, your point also has the side-effect of labeling every prophet since the dawn of mankind a crackpot with an ego problem. That's not palatable to the faithful, and not terribly fair since some prophets (and saints) have actually done much good in the world.

Besides, if God did choose someone to speak for Him and told them as much, then the (actual, bone fide) chosen messenger would demonstrate the precise kind of certainty you attack. It's a logical trap. Even if God is real and does speak to certain people, or even many people, non-believers will simply consider them to be loony, full of "chutzpah," and in need of lithium.

Not to say that the Rapture guy here isn't, of course.

Word verification is "ranted." Heh.

I wonder when this thing came out? I read a note somewhere that it's on a VHS, and the production looks like mid-90s.

As all true followers know, the big day is 11/11/11 - the Tapture - when Nigel Tufnel will lead all believers past 11... to whatever lies beyond.

"the Tapture - when Nigel Tufnel will lead all believers past 11"

Is that feet, or inches?

By Blogger Aegon01, at Tue Sep 13, 04:12:00 AM:

11/11/11 IS a sacred day, but only because The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim comes out that day.

"Is that feet or inches?"
It is volume, on a logarithmic scale - and it will definitely trigger seismic events!
