The view from my window

, at , at , atBeautiful photo. I have no particular fondness for Chicago, as from an early age I heard my downstate grandfather talk about Chicago politics. Some time back TH had a quiz on what this phrase meant: just slippin’ on by on LSD, Friday night trouble-bound. As a hymn of praise to a city, you can’t get much better than this song and video.

oh, it's Chicago. I just wondered where the picture was taken from. It's not immediately apparent to me.
I'd guess some hotel on Wacker, but not sure.

Is there a city in the world with a better collection of skyscrapers than Chicago?
TH: see if you can manage a reservation at Alinea. If not that then, any of Topolobampo,La Frontiera, or Xocco ( Rick Bayless's gourmet Mexican triple-header)which, by the way are but a few blocks' stroll from you hotel. There should be fireworks tomorrow visible from any of the above mentioned skyscrapers.

Very nice. I've never had a view like that when I stayed in Chicago. If I were to guess, I'd say you must be at the Hyatt.
I've stayed at the downtown Chicago Hyatt once or twice, but I never had a view that faced north, only west or south--mostly I only saw the other buildings across the street, if I saw that much.
Pretty sure that's the view from the Renaissance.
