Summer Thursday afternoon Caption This!

The original caption of this White House photo:

President Barack Obama picks up his sub after meeting with five small business owners at Tastee Sub Shop in Edison, N.J., July 28, 2010. The President visited Edison to discuss the economy and urge Congress to pass support for small businesses.

Seriously? I think you can do better than that.

No caption, but a comment: his expression indicates that he has the same naked disdain for his sandwich that he has for (small, medium, and large) business generally.

We are looking at a campaigner, not of a chief executive. Why am I not surprised?

I should have gone to Philly for a cheesesteak.

" We are looking at a campaigner " I disagree, we are looking at a man whom doesn't respect the postion, the symbolism of the office he holds, or, most disturbing, the people whom he is supposed to represent. We are looking at a placeholder, until someone with the skills and abilities arrives to un do the damage.

"Tastee Subs stimulated me to gain 800 billion pounds in only two months. And its bill was only 800 pages long."

Edward Lunny : good points.

Of course I know how to hold a paper bag so the contents don't fall out. I don't know why you all are always injecting race into everything.

(1) Uhhhh,, you did put the Arugula on, right?

(2) Obama accepts the sack full of Cash from the New Jersey healthcare lobbyists that bought him off, "Hey you all got a Freezer back there?"

(3) Obama thinks to himself "Hmmmm... I wonder if these small businessmen spit in my sandwich?"

I worked the counter of a greasy spoon in high school that was a brothers' op instead of ma and pa. Word was that one time a difficult customer got a freebie added to his sub sandwich. Something to do with a German Shepherd.

"His term may not end until January of 2013, but clearly Barack Obama believes it's never too early to begin training for his next job."

How do you become a billionaire? Start with a trillion and then make investments like the Chevy Volt.

Obama was at GM today in Michigan and test drove the new Chevy Volt -- the Obama-mobile. Even if you never buy one -- as a taxpayer, you already own a piece of the Chevy Volt.

Base model sticker price is $41,000 -- $33,500 after government-funded subsidy. Even at the $33,500 price, you're paying way more than $10,000 over the price of a comparable traditional car. Most of this extra cost is for the battery. Depending on how you use the Volt, your pay-back period for that extra $10,000 is anywhere from 10 to 20 years or more. But you'll need a new battery after seven years. This is before you get to the inconvenience factor of having to charge the thing. It's hard to get consumers to buy something new and different that doesn't have less than a three-year payback period.

So who would buy a Volt, especially when you can already buy a Prius if you want to make a Green statement ? Answer is no one will, other than captive government agencies.

Tesla Motors will sell a few of its electric cars to the rich who want a toy -- that's because the Tesla is a sports car with great acceleration -- better than a BMW M Series. But Tesla will never get to a mass market. It'll likely go broke in a couple of years, if it doesn't scale down its expectations to being the size of another Ferrari.

It's just hard to beat gasoline as a portable energy source. It's not just the cost of batteries ... it's that they weigh too much.

You could instead put a billion or two into battery research and hope that you'd eventually create something that'd work. But then there'd be no battery manufacturing plants to go visit -- the ones that create Hundreds of New Green Jobs for the homies !

Even The New York Times gets this: GM's Electric Lemon

I go into this because the Obama Volt is a vanity project. It's stupid and un-economic. Obama is doing this with Other People's Money, without their express consent. He has no skin in this game -- just plenty of ours. The Volt is a symptom of the problems with Obama's big vision. He's oblivious to math, economics, science and reason.

President Obama visits a local sub shop and has words of hope for all Americans.

" The long time menace of consitpation in this country has finally ended. So all Americans will be able to vigorously and rapidly move the sandwich in an out of their rectums with no discomfort at all. I am your hero with a hero and i shall fight against any republican who try to thwart our national rectal health!"

In 2010 I was President of the US and leader of the free world ... now I'm working at this deli counter and glad for the work.

'bama thinking ... hmmmm, looked like a wetback who made the sammy, and he smiled when he handed it over. Wonder if he left a little extra 'wang' on it, and if it's safe to eat?
