The French do a lot of things right, including particularly staying thin while eating spectacular food and not spending hours at the gym. How do they do it? There's some good advice in this.
French women are thin -- those who are thin -- for two reasons:
They have good genes, and, yes, they limit the amount of food they eat. One serious reason for this is that food is quite expensive in France. Relative to income it is probably about twice what we pay in the US.
For the record, the woman who wrote the article is a member of the same class as those New York women who also never get fat, regardless of what they eat -- Because it is too important to their social standing to ever let that happen. Maybe that's a good outcome, but it is a constraining life they lead.
Nor is it true that New York women only go to the gym or sit on their butts. Lots of walking here. But it's hard to eliminate all that time at the desk if you actually have a job. Non?
