Specter goes to the back of the line

Arlen Specter (R D-PA) received some bad news last night from the members of his new caucus:
"But Democrats placed Specter in one of the two most junior slots on each of the five committees for the remainder of this Congress, which goes through December 2010. Democrats have suggested that they will consider revisiting Specter's seniority claim at the committee level only after the midterm elections next year."
Specter must be thinking, "that's not exactly happiness to see me." Well, he isn't being welcomed with open arms. I hope that Specter gets to hang out with his buddy the VPOTUS a fair amount, otherwise, the District and the Senate might be cold and lonely places.

Retirement was the better and more honorable option. Maybe even the Senator is starting to figure that out.

If Joe Sestak, a retired admiral and current Congressman from PA is watching, and he is, then his decision to challenge Specter in the primary next spring is getting closer. If Sestak can resist the temptation of union support in return for an endorsement of EFCA, I will send him a max contribution (I live in a district in PA that is next to the one he represents). I realize that's a big "if" for a PA Democrat.

Your money's probably safe, Escort81. Mine basically works the opposite way and some of it may go to Sestak.

I really can't believe the stuff Specter's said in his first days as a Democrat. Cheering on Norm Coleman? Did a speech written last month end up in his hands by mistake? How could he possibly have thought that was a good idea?

Well at least Arlen won't have to be the junior member in the line to feel sorry for Arlen.

He will be the only one in it.

Recently he has just confirmed my long-held opinion of him.

However now I think he has an operational problem. Has he passed his expiration date?

Know what we need?

Congressional term limits.

Reneging on their agreement just shows (again) that the dems have no honor. OTOH, Arlen is getting the respect a turncoat deserves.

I suspect he was probably more valuable to them as a ranking republican committee member who just happened to vote with Democrats.

He was a useful idiot.

Now he's just an idiot.

Arlen, welcome to the Democrat Party. Colin Powell thinks Republicans should move more to the center, that's why he voted against war hero liberal McCain in favor of the most liberal Democrat. Powell, you may leave now also.

I strongly suspect that if Obama were a member of the Taliban...Powell would still have voted for him because he was black..pure and simple.

As well as a whole bunch of people with liberal guilt syndrome.
