New Jersey voters are cranky
The New York Times takes a look at the famous crankiness of New Jersey voters and its implications for the all-important gubernatorial election in November.

, atDespite the high "independent" vote, my impression is that lots of voters vote the "A" line (Democrat) without knowing or caring about the candidates listed there. It takes a rare individual to penetrate that fog and attract voters from the Democrat vote. It also takes an issue that can be simply stated and easily understood, since candidates can't rely on multiple impressions (what with the expensive, ineffective TV coverage in the state). Christie looked good on TV when I saw his debate today but he needs to find that compelling mantra-type "pocketbook" message that can become his easily recognized signature statement if he is going to pull in Democrat voters. He was more impressive than I thought he would be, and I look forward to seeing him go up against Corzine.
