Banned words

Every school you've never heard of needs of have a gimmick. Nearly as I can tell, Lake Superior State University is known outside of da U.P. for exactly one thing -- its winsome annual list of "banished" words and phrases. This year's list is right on target, and will no doubt go a long way toward elevating LSSU's profile.

I would also note their pretty decent hockey program and their proximity to the St. Mary's River / international border. Sault Ste. Marie is a lovely town.

I'll second that. Anywhere near the ocean known as Lake Superior is God's
country.

Also, LSSU has been doing this list for decades. A past faculty member came up with it.
