We learned something important about Barack Obama today

Today, we learned that Barack Obama is not all that interested in helping the middle class.

His plan to swell the ranks of the middle class seems primarily to consist of destroying the upper classes.

IF I were middle class, I would be gravely concerned about having an ass-clown as my spokesperson in the White House.

Having joined the ranks of the "wicked old rich", my only recommendation to Mr. Biden would be to forget about wealth redistribution and find some way to redistribute work ethic.

Unfortunately, the clear intention is to have everyone be "middle class", defined as making too much money to qualify for welfare, but not enough to pay taxes.

JPMcT ... don't you mean not enough to AVOID paying taxes?

Joe Biden ... the man who gave all of 3500 to charity against 2.5M 'earned' in his public service over whatever timeline he released in his financials?

We're in for an interesting ride. Fortunately ... I have some coins to trade with to try to profit from this next cycle down and up. Difference for me this time is I'm going to play the short hand while it's lucrative, and hopefully switch to the long side in about 18-24 months.

Financially, I don't believe we've seen the tip of the commercial RE meltdown, or the financials, particularly on the credit card, auto loan, school loan front. There are so many black windows in the local shopping malls, and one wonders how many more shutter after the holiday season this year.

John, If I had enough money and influence to avoid taxes, I would be a fool not to do it.

In the golden days before income tax, we had this antique concept known as philanthropy (greek..."love of one's fellow man")that gave us museums, libraries, the Nobel Proze, Carnegie hall, Harvard, Opera houses, scholastic programs and patrons of the arts.

Now, most of us just choke up the money to the government. The overwhelming amount of income claimed by the US government is from the very people whom they accuse of "not paying their fair share" or being "lucky in the lottery of life".

Well, I suspect the DEmocrats version of "fair share" is PAY IT ALL!

The "Lottery of Life" gave me a dad passed away when I was 12 and no visible means of support. I worked my ass off. I am now very successful.

Nobody derserves my money as much as I do.....NOBODY!!

JP ... with you, wasn't swiping or intending it to be one.

I was asking what you meant in your last sentence, which I now assume means that the middle class are poor that aren't quite poor enough to get welfare, but poor enough that they pay no tax. By that def'n, the upper classes/rich are anyone who pays taxes.

My father died when I was 17. It sucked and still sucks. Not for financial reasons, as I think he left us armed with the belief that we could do OK for ourselves, but because he's been gone over 30 years, and I didn't know him as an adult. There is much I'd like to speak with him about.

Clearly, we all wish to minimize our taxes.

My biggest disappointment with this story is that they didn't officially make Biden a "Czar" for the middle class, thus rendering the whole enterprise unserious and likely ineffective.

Yeah, John, that nails it. The "middle class" (whoever they are)seems, in political terms, to be portrayed as the hard-working grunts who bear the tax burden and who really need "relief".

As we all know, the reality is quite different. The vast majority of taxes (86%) are paid by the top few percent. The last figues I saw had the bottom 50% of income earners paying only 3% of the tax burden.

So it's not a budget buster to give a "middle class tax break"...or even to guarantee "95% of Americans" a tax break...because most of them don't pay any significant taxes!!!
