The problem is Russia

Some significant proportion of the global temperature anomaly attributed to climate change derives from readings in Siberia and the Russian arctic. This month, there was an obvious problem with the Russian data -- October readings were copies of September readings -- that lead the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, a leading purveyor of global temperature data, to report erroneously that the October just past was the warmest on record.

Oops.

That invites a deeper inquiry into Russian temperature data, and whether a structural bias toward warmth -- something more difficult to detect than duplicated numbers -- may have cocked up the GISS data set for some longer period of time. This outstanding post points to one possible problem with the Russian data.

Call me a cynic, but I expect there will be few, if any, climate scientists willing to write the grant application to investigate the Russian temperature data more closely, and in any case no money will be forthcoming.

Hansen gets massive media support for his data models...along with some loose cash from George Soros.

Meanwhile, this guy with a bit of logic and Google Earth sets fire to the straw man.

Hilarious. Who the hell is minding the store here?

Maybe NASA should send it's next lander proble to Siberia!!

These groups have been caught deliberately falsifying temp data for years to prove their case for about AGW.

My question is why.......? Whats in it for them? Oh I remember now, it's really about CHANGE (thought control)(socialism) and APW appeals to the dumbest of the dumb.
Does the name SOROS ring a bell....?

I have always assumed that NASA and other agencies (US-based or foreign/international) were using an array of temperature sensors - ground stations, satellite measurements, weather balloons - to record monthly global temperatures.

Are they just using ground station reports from around the world? With no quality controls?

Oy.

That's one heck of a link, TigerHawk. I can't believe the Soviets piped steam through uninsulated pipes. Were they trying to heat the whole outdoors, my mama would say? Seems like that would be pretty dangerous to civilians, too.

It could still be wrong, though. All it takes is one Russian guy saying "those aren't steam pipes, they're borscht pipes!"

James Hansen get all that support from that liberal left-wing news media the facts are that most of their global warming models come from computer simulations and AL GORE is the high preist of global warming hoaxters
