Madrid diary: "Our Lady of the Stamp"

We spent yesterday touring Madrid and today in Toledo, and I have bundles of great pictures for those of you who prefer such things to mooning over Sarah Palin or unremitting attacks on the New York Times. Sadly, the Flickr uploader is giving me fits, so they will be coming to you in dribs and drabs until the situation resolves itself.

Anyway, here is my picture of the tower of the Madrid central post office, which is so ecclesiastical in appearance local wags refer to it as "Our Lady of the Stamp."

"Our Lady of the Stamp"

Mock it all you want, but if you are going to waste your tax dollars on a postal system it might as well have attractive buildings.

This is just a quick shout out to the conservatives and moderates out there who oppose the media bias. In the last couple of weeks I've been actively using the site Digg.com and -- wow -- realized it's loaded with liberals. They post all pro-Obama content and then "digg" it up and "digg" down anything they don't like. I thought "no big deal": Well, their content frequently makes the top of Google searches. So, I'm asking you to spend a few minutes of your time in the Political arena and Digg the stories that are providing the facts. Digg.com. Thanks!

Well said. There is no excuse for ugly public buildings.

That's the problem with architecture, everyone is a critic!
