Good point
Roger Kimball gets an email that makes a good point.
MORE: Peter Robinson at the Corner also gets a great email, and it is going to leave the lefties guffawing even though it is true.

Heh. I really want someone to ask Palin and Biden that oi-rig question at the debate. :)

Great, she knows all about oil. Make her Secretary of Energy.
Puhleeeeez. It's embarrasing to watch the Rethugs try to pull these pretend rabbits out of a hat, particularly when we now know she was McCain's SECOND choice. If McCain was the true maverick he would have told Charlie Black to stick it, and listened to his own "heart" and not his advisers.
Didn't the Republican Party learn it's lesson after Bush selected Harriet Miers for all the wrong reasons?
Drip, drip, drip
Cohen nails it
Best line:
John McCain's selection of Palin, which I first viewed with horror, could now be seen in a different light. Based on various television interviews over the Labor Day weekend -- and a careful reading of the transcripts -- it is possible that this is McCain's attempt to make fools of his fellow Republicans. He has succeeded beyond all expectations.

Anon:
So if Obama is so prepared, why does he need 300 advisors? Does listening to advice on issues constitute weakness, and can a POTUS never reconsider his "first choice" and recover IYHO?
Obama might be ready for some low level position in a Dem administration, but he's far from prime time. Let's just be honest about that. And Biden has a Senate record, which is his problem.
Look, McCain has been selling himself as someone who is his "own man" who "won't be pushed around any any ideology" but with the most significant decision he has to make as a presidential candidate, we learn he was "pushed." You may say he "reconsidered"; I say he caved.
More importantly, I'm still waiting to hear how she helps McCain address the central reason he's told us he's running for president: the threat of radical Islamic terrorism--"the transcendtal challenge of our time."
After that I'd like to know how she meets his standard (as he told us) of "ready to lead on day one?"
I understand you think Obama is unprepared to do so but I'm curious to why you think she is.
It's a relative measure. I personally don't believe anyone is truly ready on day one, and how ready they are is based mostly on what happens in the early days of their term, and how they respond.
I like that Palin took on her own party, and beat them up. Kinda reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt. Right is right, no matter which color tie you wear. We need more of that in DC and State Government.
I do believe that a person's character plays into fitness, and to that metric, I am yet to see any evidence of associations with terrorists or other scumbags in Palin's dossier. That puts her one up on Obama in my view.
Obama is clearly NOT ready to lead this country. In fact, he really hasn't told us jack squat about what he's going to do, so all we have to go on is his character and past associations. His dealings with Rezco, Ayers, and a host of others don't leave me feeling so great.
We're not electing the VP, as much as the Left might want the talking points to go there with the "one heartbeat" stuff. We're electing a President. And to that end, McCain trumps Obama hands down.
More ... read to "shape of an L on your forehead". Even Obama feels he needs to defend his vast executive preparation...

Rethugs? If your first instinct is to insult, why should I care what you say?
